He was predeceased by: his parents, Ronald Burns and Margaret Burns; his sister Jodi Burns; his father-in-law Dan Shiner; and his siblings-in-law, John Bartels, Robert Sieveke, Richard Shiner and Margaret Ann Barbion.
He is survived by: his wife Rose; his pet Tater Sue Anne; and his siblings, Jim (Darlene Burns), Dianne Sieveke, Ron (Dawn Burns), Penny (David Neisent), Alvin Burns, Margie (Joe Tischler), Mike Burns and Barb (Michael Eisen). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Twin City Animal Shelter, PO Box 610, Lead, SD 57754, and Yankton.
