He was predeceased by: his parents, John Charles and Tenie Charles (Colthorp); his former wife Gwendolyn Inez Briggs; his sons, Johnny and Billy; his sons-in-law, Larry Williams and Lynn Uhrig; his grandson Richard Griffith; and his great grandchildren, Tyler William and Johnny Brett.
He is survived by: his wife Cherrie of Belle Fourche; and his children, Mylan Charles (Nyla) of Newell, SD, Jim Charles (Carol) of Newell, SD, Linda Williams of Spearfish, SD, Tina Murray (Corky) of Springfield, OR, Kathy Aberle (Rich) of Watford City, ND, Debbie Charles of Spearfish, SD, DeeDee Sowers (Ron) of Deadwood, SD and Jackie Rath of Spearfish, SD. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
