He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Rank and Ada Rank (Crist); his former wife Betty; his grandchildren, Ben and Jolene; his siblings, Charles (Helen), Harold (Sophie), Ernie (Helen), Vern (Dora), Melvin, John, Florence Wood (Keith), Grace Foltz (Ralph) and Sylvia Huber (Harold); and his brother-in-law Gerald Segar.
He is survived by: his spouse Phyllis Schwan; his children, Ralph Rank (Kris) of Kimball, SD, Susan Tucker (Ross) of Cheyenne, WY and Janice Von Eye (Terry) of Miller, SD; and his stepchildren, Barb (Todd Rahm) of Creswell, OR, Andy Schwan of Hitchcock, SD, Linda Jacobs (Kurt) of Hitchcock, SD and Phil Schwan of Gwinner, ND. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a sister Melvina Segar of Cedar Rapids, IA; and two sisters-in-law.
