He was predeceased by: his parents, Emiel Swanson and Adeline Swanson (Lunn); his wife Gwen Sattler; his siblings, Helen Bebo, Harold Swanson, Lawrence Swanson, Rudolph Swanson, Walter Swanson, John Swanson and Edwin Swanson; his son Steven Leighton Swanson; and his son-in-law Leo Effling.
He is survived by: his children, Marjean Rainey (Carl) of St. George, UT, Wanda Effling of Artesian, SD, Angela Kulm (Jason) of Mitchell, SD and Alvin Troy Swanson (Monica) of Pukwana, SD; his grandchildren, Taylor Effling, Nathan Effling (Tatem), Zachary Effling, Logan Effling, Jacob Kulm, Chelsea Kulm, Mallory Swanson, Miles Swanson, Cade Swanson, Aiden Swanson, Victoria Parker (Kyal) and Abigail Keightly (Michael); his great grandchildren, Kyzer, Aurora Parker and Arvin Leo Effling; and his sister Lois Bickner of Sioux Falls, SD. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren, and many friends.
