He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Dyson and Lenore Dyson (Rearick); his wife Sandra May; and his siblings, Loucele Norton, Alan Dyson and Donna Cole.

He is survived by: his daughter Melissa Dyson of Kennebec; and his sister Laurel Roth of Kentucky. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Richard "Dick" Dyson died peacefully in his sleep April 15, 2023 at Sanford Foundation Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls.
