He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil Martens and Martha Martens; his wife Mary Louise Martens (Thompson); his sister Dorothy (Martens); his brother-in-law David Gilliland; his nieces, Marilyn Legg (Gilliland) and Dorothy Jean Gilliland; his nephew Alan Gilliland; his daughter-in-law LaVilla Martens; and his close friend Joan Hull.
He is survived by: his children, Stephen Martens (Pamela Young) of Huron, Robert Martens of Brooklyn Center, MN, Scott Martens (Mary Haeder) of Watertown, SD and Gibb (Stephanie Rodgers). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.
