He was predeceased by: his parents, George Wieting and Anna Wieting (DeVries); and his brother Maynard Wieting. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Wieting; his children, Sherry Edwards (Raymond) of Tulare, Mel Wieting (Rosemary) of Minneapolis, MN, Jodene Decker (Brent) of Huron, Rochelle Wipf (Phil) of Wessington Springs and Terry Wieting (Lori) of Huron; and his grandchildren, Ray Edwards, Jr., Joy Dalke (Darrell), Theo Edwards (Lesa), Amanda Ormonde, Paula Wiebe (Ben), Andrew Wieting (Lisa), Kim Wieting, Melissa Blum (Zach), Amber Erdmann (Chad), Eric Decker (Katie), Natalie Bartel (Joshua), Mallory Wipf, Tristan Wieting (Carmen), Joshua Wieting and Karilyn Wieting. He is also survived by 25 great-grandchildren.
