He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Bales and Gladys Bales (McDaniel); his brother Larry; his daughter Stephanie Bales (Bell); his grandsons, Travis Bales and Jeremy Bales; and his great grandchild Delaynee Schnabel.
He is survived by: his former wife Darlene VanTour; his wife Maggie Baker of Huron; and his children, Steve Bales (Sandy) of Huron, Lori Bales-Pechholt (Dave Hein) of Huron, Kim Schnabel (Brad) of Huron, Rich Bales (Stephanie) of Lakeville, MN and Ryan Timm of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
