He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Coats and Veronica Coats (Paris); his wife Gleo; his son Jim Coats; his son-in-law Richard Martian; and his siblings, Les, Bill, Merle, Howard, Sid, Shorty and Norma.
He is survived by: his daughter Cheri Martian; his daughter-in-law Jane Coats; and his grandchildren, James Coats (Lisa), Shelley Coats (Chris Rice), John Coats (Susan), Erin Coats (Brian Ellison), Jennifer Coats, Josh Coats (Bailey), Dale Martian (Lin), Carla Sandquist (Tatum), Kathy Roggow (John) and Peggy Valnes (Craig). He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
