He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Beckman and Anna Beckman (Thielbar); and his siblings, Roy, George, Harry, William Beckman, Marie Lemke Ziegeldorf, Dora Miller McKee, Alice Beckman, Mabel Foster, Daisy May and Lily Haeder.
He is survived by: his wife Vylene Hintz; his children, Doreen Peterson (Kurt) of Lake Norden, SD and Bruce Beckman (Janell) of Lake Preston, SD; and his grandchildren, Pamela Rose (Beckman), Brian Beckman (Melissa), Corey Beckman (April), Jennifer Klein (Craig), Kristen Schneekloth (Chad), Kari Birchem (Jason) and Kimberly Strivens. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
