He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Briscoe and Gertrude Briscoe (Steele); his wife Linda; his son David L. Briscoe; his sister Patsy Briscoe; and his brothers-in-law, Gary Engel and Jim Cornish.

He is survived by: his daughters, Lisa Burton (Michael) of Hickory and Gina Breck (Patrick) of Huron; his grandchildren, Nick Sperry, Colin Burton, Alyssa Burton, Alex Griffith, Kirsten Burton, Spencer Burton and Cortney Griffith; his sisters, Carol Engel of Rapid City and Ramona Cornish of Salome, Arizona; and his sisters-in-law, Nancy Betts Beasley of Boston and Laura Gene Diebold of Louisville, Kentucky.

Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Huron Area Senior Center or Center for Independence.

“I WISH TO EXPRESS MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO DARRELL'S FAMILY. DARRELL WAS MY BROTHER-IN -LAW. HE WAS A PERSON WHO PUT OTHERS FIRST. HE GAVE UNCEASING AND LOVING CARE TO MY SISTER LINDA THROUGHOUT HER ILLNESS. HE CARRIED WATER OUT TO THE CEMETERY FOR THE NEWLY PLANTED TRESS. WHEN HE AND LINDA WOULD DRIVE FROM HURON TO LOUISVILLE THEY WOULD PACK A PHEASANT FOR A MEAL. ALTHOUGH I DID NOT SEE HIM OFTEN ENOUGH I KNEW HE WAS THERE DOING GOOD THINGS FOR OTHERS. GENIE BETTS DIEBOLD”
