We are sad to announce that on July 11, 2024, at the age of 96, Virgil Christensen of Hurley, South Dakota passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Soren Christensen and Esther Christensen (Hurley); his wife Marlene Poppenga of Lennox; and his siblings, Vivian Jorgensen, Florence Christopherson, Avis Jurgens, Maurice Christensen, Lloyd Christensen, Duane and Helen.
He is survived by: his children, Dan Christensen of Hurley, Jeanne Goodman (Jim) of Pierre and Linda Christensen of Phoenix, AZ; his grandchildren, Amy Johnson (Greg) of Hurley, David Christensen (Kelly) of Hurley, Brooke Hillard (Scott) of Sioux Falls, Greg Goodman (Wanda) of Pierre and Allen Goodman (Sadie) of Pierre; his sister Ruth Wilcox of Jacksonville, FL; his sister-in-law Marilyn Christensen of Fountain Hills, AZ; and his close friend Char Lange of Davis. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to South Dakota Make-A-Wish Foundation.
