He is survived by: his wife Ruby Hakl; his children, Randy Hakl (Ching) of Brandon, Karen Schmidt (Jerry) of Garretson, Todd Hakl (Brenda) of Alcester, Rhonda Iddings (Jeff) of Sioux Falls and Rachel Gunn (Patrick) of Cherokee, IA; and his brothers, Craig Hakl (Kathy) of San Antonio, TX, Curtis Hakl (Margaret) of Townsville and Queensland. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.
