As we bid Commander John farewell, let us not mourn the absence of his physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of his spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Commander John is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayre Scott and Paul Scott; his siblings, Charles "Chic" Scott and Luanne Thorpe; and his nieces, Tiffany Toft and Tracy Thorpe.
He is survived by: his wife Jae Soon of Aiea, Hawaii; and his sister Paula Toft (Lonnie) of Summerville.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (1121 Ave L, Hawarden, IA 51023). A rosary will be held on Thursday, May 8th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, May 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Johnny's family prefers in lieu of flowers, that donation be made to the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 99-312 Moanalua Road, Aiea, Hawaii 96701.
