He was predeceased by: his parents, John Robert Haak and Hattie Bertha Willamena Haak (Voeltz); his siblings, Gilbert Haak, Lorraine Laufmann, Rosella Kreul and Elnora Callies; and his daughter-in-law Jean Haak (Jerlow).
He is survived by: his children, Joni (Richard), John (Chris) and Brad (Judene); his wife Joyce A. Haak; his children, Bobbi Richardson of Chandler, AZ and Jacobsen of Madison, SD; his grandchildren, Jason, Mike, Matt Hart, Jenna Haak, Hannah Heiden (Haak), Brittney Ryba (Haak), Nicole Brown (Haak), John and Jillian Haak; his stepgrandchildren, Morgan, Delaney and Bodie Murray; and his brother Harlan Haak (Joyce E.). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
