He was predeceased by : his parents, Margie "Ann" Smith and Norman "Bud" Smith; his grandmother Schoolcraft; his mother-in-law Hester Chesson; and his sister-in-law Mona Chesson.
He is survived by : his wife Julie; his children, Jordyn Smith, Stacia Smith, Robert Frankel, Brandy Shaw, Kimberly Frankel and Johnny Wilcher; his sisters, Ann Dee Karpinsky (Greg) and Peggy Shrewsbury (Tom); and his brothers-in-law, William and Brian Chesson. He is also survived by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins that he admired deeply; and his thirteen grandchildren.
