He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter A. Schmidt and Ida B. Schmidt (Friesz); and his sisters, Pat Hatzenbuhler and Janice Schwartz. He is survived by: his brothers, Gary (Wanda), Ken (Sherry) and Paul Schmidt (Doris). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery.
