It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Margaret Joan Merrill McLaughlin of Hot Springs, South Dakota, born in Crawford, Nebraska, who passed away on April 20, 2022, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Birdsall and Marion Birdsall (Webster); her sons, Larry and Don; her former husband Milton McLaughlin (Mick); her husband Dan Merrill; her siblings, Julia Peterson, Jack Birdsall (Jack) and Jean Birdsall; her stepparents, Gertrude Birdsall and Milford Saxton; and her stepsiblings, Vivian Michaels, Fern Halls, Betty Dawson and Milo Saxton.
She is survived by: her brother Paul Birdsall (Jean); her daughter Peggy Porter (Tom) of Edgemont, SD; her daughters-in-law, Kay Merrill of Chadron, NE and Gail Merrill of Buckeye, AZ; her brother Sam Birdsall of Riverside, CA; and her grandchildren, Melanie Herring, Sid Merrill, Razen Merrill, Lynn and Marian Merrill. She is also survived by five step-grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
