He is survived by: his children, Shawn Vellek (Cindy) of St. Paul, MN and Kathleen Ayala (Rick) of Great Lakes, ILL; his son-in-law John Entwisle of Hot Springs, SD; and his grandchildren, Eamin, Colin Entwisle, Ricky and Patrick Ayala.

“I am shocked and saddened at the loss of my husband's brother. I didn't know until his Christmas card came back and I went on line to see if I could find him. I loved Len. He was a true friend who helped me hunt for apartments in Chicago, baby sat Dona as an infant and they would just laugh and laugh. The summer he finished his Masters degree at the University of Minnesota I helped him send his Christmas cards for the year before. (!) He was such a fine musician ! A delight to know. Ita Vellek”
