He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward I. McKnight and Edna E. McKnight; and his siblings, Art, John, Dick and Reva.
He is survived by: his former wife Lorraine Foster; his child Ester; his former wife Joyce Gerken; his wife Joyce McKnight of Hot Springs; his children, Edna Louise McKnight of Arkansas, Esther Marie McKnight of Arkansas and James I McKnight Jr of San Diego, CA; his sisters-in-law, Ellen McKnight of Rapid City, Shirley McKnight of Portland Oregon, Carol Pritchard and Shirley Vollmer of Sioux Falls; and his close friends, Michelle Merrill of Rapid City and Deb Legge of Rapid City. He is also survived by numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
