He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Agnes Schwingler (Schumacher) and Leo Schwingler; his wife Sharon Schneider; his children, Michael Paul Schwingler (Megan Lower) of Long Lake, SD and Mindy Henderson (Max) of Ipswich, SD; his siblings, Joe Schwingler of Bismarck, ND, Francis Schwingler of Eureka, Theresa Heilman of Aberdeen, SD, Marie Lipp of Aberdeen, SD, Kathleen Craig of Aberdeen, SD and Angie Fuhrmann of Arroyo Grande, CA; and his close friend Karen Rohrbach of Bowdle. He was also cherished by three grandchildren.
