He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucille Gibson (Westover) and Bryan Gibson; his brothers, Carl Leroy, Merlin, Alvin and Gary; his parents-in-law, Kathryn and Max Schamber; his nieces, Cheryl Gibson and Susan Bennett; his sisters-in-law, Noreen Gibson and Rosa Lee Gibson; and his nephew-in-law Mike Riley.

He is survived by: his wife DeVandolyn Gibson (De); his children, Angel Hoover (Mark) and Chester Gibson (Michelle); his grandchildren, Maxwell, Marshall Gibson and Colson Hoover; his sisters, Anna Mae Ryan (Paul) and Sharon Kay Wilson (Dick); his siblings-in-law, Arlen (Mary) and Sharleen Harnisch (Lynn); and his friends, Sally Hofius, Naomi Circle, Haiwick, Jason Runestead, Dr. Michael Richardson, Lauren, Chip, Laura, Judy, Paul Knox and Don Hamlin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
