He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil Schmidt and Carolina Schmidt (Ritter); his wife Lorraine Bauer; his daughter Pamela Louise; his great grandchild Linnea Jo Allbee; his sister Irene Heinrich (Albert); and his nephew Lance Heinrich.
He is survived by: his son Tim Schmidt (Sheila) of Herreid; his granddaughters, Naomi Schmidt of Bismarck, ND, Jessica Allbee (James) of Watertown, SD, Jimmie Lynn Schmidt of Mobridge, SD and Christi Ries (Tyler) of Herreid; his great grandchildren, Canden Allbee and Baby Ries; and his nephew Gary Heinrich (Sandy).
