The memory of Ronald Thyen of Hayti, South Dakota, who passed away on February 1, 2025 at the age of 78, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Thyen and Clarice Thyen (Hulscher); his parents-in-law, Carl and Theresa Haider; and his siblings-in-law, Corky Sour, Dean Luikens, Dan Seitz, Jerome Haider, James Haider and Marilyn Haider.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Thyen (Patty), Eva Engebretson (Tom) and Kathryn Jurrens (Steve); his wife Dianne Thyen (Haider); his siblings, Phyllis Sour (Pat Karie), Kenneth Thyen, Lois Hyde (Doug), Mary Ellen Luikens, Bernie Thyen, Danny Thyen (Becky), Rita Berg (Tom), Sharon Thyen, Diane Seitz, Jim Thyen (Penny) and Russ Thyen (Heather); his in-laws, Elaine Peterson (Lynn), Janel Jenkins (Randy) and Larry Haider; and his aunt Helen Haan. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 9th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the St. John's Catholic Church (201 Merrill St, Castlewood, SD 57223). A rosary was held on Sunday, February 9th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorials be made to the non-profit organization of your choice in memory of Ron.
