He is survived by: his wife Norma Madsen of Hatyi; his sons, David Schaefer (Barbara) of Hayti, Roger Schaefer (Shawn) of Bryant, Greg Schaefer of Council Bluffs, IA, Kevin Schaefer of Hayti, James Schaefer of Lake Norden, Scott Schaefer of Bryant and Corry Schaefer (Stacey) of Hayti; and his siblings, Gary Schaefer (Carol) of Mesa, AZ and MaryAnn Benner. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren.
