He was predeceased by: his parents, John Johnson and Rosella Johnson (Vagsness); his wife Joann; and his siblings, Marion, Edgar, Mary Lou (Casey) and Dorothy Crabtree (Keith).

He is survived by: his children, Kevin Johnson (Benita), Diane Higby (Al) and Kendall Johnson (Kristine). He is also survived by five granddaughters; one great grandson.
