He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Franzen and Marian Franzen (Swenson); his brothers, Byron, Loren and Doug; his father-in-law Marvin Liknes; and his brothers-in-law, Jesse Liknes and Jerome Fagerland.

He is survived by: his wife Wanda Liknes; his children, Nate Franzen (Michelle), Stephenie Campbell (Jason), Stewart Franzen (Jennifer) and Cody Franzen (Kimberly); his grandchildren, Bailey Franzen, Kellen Franzen, Grace Campbell, Anna Campbell, Peyton Franzen, Ella Franzen, Maeve Campbell, Avery Franzen, Vaeda Franzen, Sutton Franzen, Evan Franzen and Phoenix Franzen; his brothers, David Franzen (Janice) and Rolyn Franzen (Sandy); his siblings-in-law, Monte Liknes (Carol), Corey Liknes (Susan), Cheryl Fagerland and Carla Sanderson (Lorrie); and his mother-in-law Marjorie Liknes. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
