He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Berndt and Louise Berndt (Grimme); his siblings, Martha, Alice, Arthur Jr., Arliss, Myron, William, Roger and Dwain; his in-laws, Larry and Marcielle Hamilton; and his sisters-in-law, Jane Sedlacek and Norma Hlavac.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Elaine Hamilton; his children, Craig Berndt (Kari), Chris Berndt (Destiny), Wendy Blakney (Kelly) and Joy Stirling (Corey); his sister Sharon Olsen (Willis); his in-laws, Russel Hamilton (Margaret), Peggy Carda (Gene Jaeger), Larice Hamilton (Eileen), Colin Hamilton and Sandy Wilson (Earl); his grandchildren, Chris Kullander (Britney), Brianna Blakney (John Tirrel), Brittany Appeldorn (Brandon), Camden Berndt, Kylie Berndt, Kiara Berndt, Brenden Blakney (Kellyn Jackson), Brooklyn Berndt, Ashton Stirling, Aidan Berndt and Gavin Stirling; and his great grandchildren, William Kullander, Wesley Kullander, Grayson Blakney and Appeldorn.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Heritage Funeral Home (4800 S Minnesota Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57108). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Pleasant View Cemetery.
