He was predeceased by: his parents, Gullick T. Risty and Bertha Risty (Stensland); his sisters, Shirley Williamson, Gertrude Waring and Betsy Shafer; and his siblings-in-law, Perry Williamson, Herb Shafer, Joe Datri, Matt Schon and Gladys Benson.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Benson; his children, Gullick Risty (Connie), Mary Stoterau (David), Sioux Falls, Berton Risty (Barb), Sherman, John Risty (Cheryl), Karen Kolander (Eldon), Sharon Snyder (Tom) and Aberdeen; his sisters, Mary Datri of Tuscon, AZ and Dorothy Risty-Schon; and his brothers-in-law, Robert Waring, Nels Benson, Norm Benson (Elaine) and Garretson. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
