He was predeceased by: his former wife Margery Christensen; his sons, Mark (Diane), Russell, John Jr. and Paul; his father Leo Lucille Hess (Margaret); his sister Dorothy VanBellinger; and his close friend Eddie Hansen.
He is survived by: his children, Michele Peters (Michael), Kristi Westerbeck (Mike), Jeri Sabie and Tonya Hess; his wife Dianne; his siblings, Herbert, Donald (Lucretia), Frances Kauth and Agnes Kennard; and his close friend Jerry Totman. He is also survived by his four daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren.
