It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gertrude Carolyn Duffert of Flandreau, South Dakota, who passed away on May 30, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Schurman and Lora Schurman (Meier); her siblings, Joyce Becker, Edwin Schurman and Luetta Peake; and her significant other Dallas Petersen.
She is survived by: her children, John Duffert (Cindy), Karen Viste (Dave) and Debbi Feenstra (Daren); her sisters, Joan Vandevoorde and Kay Kortlever (Rolland); her grandchildren, Jeremie Houtman (Marcia), Stefanie Bonrud (Darrel), Robert Viste (Becky), Heather Viste (John), Michael Viste, Kylee Wickstrom (Tyler), Dalton Feenstra and Cole Feenstra (Tiah); her children, Scott Petersen (Angie) and Shawn Petersen (Joy); and her grandchildren, Jeremy, Ryan, Taryn, Amanda, Kogan and Braydn. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
