He is survived by: his wife Susan Mongold; and his children, Craig Barnes (Julie) of Sioux Falls, SD, Jeff Barnes (Stacy) of Rapid City, SD, Bob Barnes (Rhonda) of Groton, SD and Beth Barnes (Renner) of Britton, SD.. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, his family, friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 6th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Skroch Funeral Chapel (409 E 2nd Ave, Flandreau, SD 57028). A prayer was held on Friday, December 6th 2024 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Simon and Jude Catholic Church (105 S Bates St, Flandreau, SD 57028).
Memorials may be made to the Flandreau Booster Club in honor of Gus' lifelong commitment to education and sports.
