He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Schwartz and Clara Schwartz (Crowell); his wife Donna Jean (Glatzel); his stepmother Anna Mae; his siblings, Robert and Mary Lu; his half-brothers, Harold and Walter; his son-in-law Bohn Peterson; and his grandson Michael Bortnem.
He is survived by: his children, Richard Schwartz (Darla) of Yankton, Ronald Schwartz (Deb) of Hendricks, MN, Roger Schwartz (Pam), Russell Schwartz (Katelyn Ruiz) of Estelline, Rex Schwartz (Trish) of Bruce, Kathleen Schaeffer (Ken) of Garner, IA and Karola Peterson of Estelline; and his sisters-in-law, Doris Glatzel and Delores Haroldson. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
