Michael Scott Bortnem Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Michael Scott Bortnem (Estelline, South Dakota), who passed away on February 22, 2020 at the age of 38. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Marvin and Ann Bortnem; and his stepfather Bohn Peterson. He is survived by: his parents, Bryan Bortnem and Karola Bortnem-Peterson (Schwartz) of Estelline, SD; his daughter Peyton Bortnem of Volga, SD; his stepmother Cathy Bortnem (Hoss) of Rutland, SD; his siblings, Erik Bortnem and Jessica Thielen (Matt); his nephew Camden; his niece Addison; his stepsiblings, Daniel Peterson, Amy Peterson and Sarah Shujairi; and his grandparents, Ralph and Donna Schwartz. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be given in memory of Michael to a trust being set up for his daughter, Peyton.
