She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Janisch and Ella Janisch (Fischer); her husband Ralph Emerson; her daughter Janna Harper; and her sisters, Jean Isakson and Carol Holen.

She is survived by: her children, Dee, Ralph, Julie Emerson of Brandon, SD and Nancy Boyle (Jess) of Brandon, SD; her grandchildren, Will Harper of Fort Collins, CO, Whitney Henderson (Brandon) of Sioux Falls, SD and Zach Boyle (Ricki) of Volga, SD; her great grandchildren, Carter, Emery, Aspen, Gracie and Everett; and her brother-in-law David Holen of Grand Rapids, ND.
