We are sad to announce that on April 28, 2024 we had to say goodbye to Romey A. Garreau of Eagle Butte, South Dakota, born in Gettysburg, South Dakota. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Sr. Garreaux and Delphine Garreaux (Hennessy); his daughters, Kelly and Jeri Jewel; his grandson Dace; his great grandchild Christian; and his siblings, Grant, Frank, Melvin, Manson, Alphonso, Gilbert Jr., Tracy, Gibson Garreaux, Harold "Peaches" Lee, Margaret McLemore, Verna LeCompte, Alphonsine Simpson, Serena Garreau and Faye Walters.
He is survived by: his children, Chug (Karen), Sydney (Lacey), Delphine, Tracy and Martha (Dustin); his sisters, Shirley Christensen (Jay) and Malinda Means; and also Grampa Romey. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren.
In honor of his many contributions to the community over his life and his staunch support of tribal sovereignty, the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe declared September 1, 2006, Romey Garreaux Day and he was sure proud of that!
