He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas J. Maupin and Christine Maupin of Eagle Butte, SD.; and his siblings, Thurman McKinney, John Walter Maupin and Peggy Symonds.

He is survived by: his sons, Thomas and Charles of Sturgis, SD; his wife Chris Kinghorn; his daughter-in-law Rebecca; his grandchildren, Thomas of Sundance, WY and Riley of Sundance, WY; and his brother Baine Maupin of Buffalo, SD. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
