Neil Palmlund Obituary

Neil Leroy Palmlund, age 64, of De Smet, SD, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021, at his residence after a brief battle with lung cancer. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at American Lutheran Church in De Smet. Rev. Jonathon Dolan will officiate. Music will be provided by Julie Baszler as organist.

The family is requested to meet in the church basement by 10:30 a.m. for a prayer service. The service will be Live-streamed on our Facebook. Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in De Smet on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be at Manchester Cemetery in Manchester, SD. Pallbearers will be Neil's nephews: Jared Danielson, Josh Danielson, Jayme Danielson, Jason Palmlund, Justin Kolbeck, Jon Kolbeck, Trevor Hanson, and Tyler Hanson.

Neil was born on May 20, 1957, in Huron, SD, to Levi and Alice (Bau) Palmlund. He graduated from De Smet High School in 1975, and worked on the family farm. On February 16, 1980, Neil married Donna Hass in De Smet, SD. He worked at Lyle Signs where he was employed for over 40 years. He also worked on the family farm raising cattle and enjoyed fixing fence and gardening.

He was known as a hard worker. Neil was a member of the American Lutheran Church. Neil is survived by his wife Donna of De Smet; sons Christopher (Renae) Palmlund of Madison, SD, and Benjamin Palmlund of Brookings, SD; brother Steve (Teresa) Palmlund of De Smet; sisters Shirley Nelson of Brookings, SD, Janice Palmlund of Sioux Falls, SD, and Audrey Kolbeck of Yankton, SD; sister-in-law Debbie (Randy) Hanson; brother-in-law, Terry Danielson; grandchildren Shayn (Keyanna) Palmlund, Jeff, Jesse Gulbranson, and Leah Tooker; great-grandson Houston Miller and great-granddaughter soon to be; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Neil is preceded in death by his parents; and one sister Nanette Danielson.
