He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Batien and Florence Batien (McMillan); and his brother Jerry Batien. He is survived by: his wife Susan; his daughters, Melanie Kudera (Terry) of Clarkson, NE and Christy Clark (Kevin) of Sioux City; his granddaughters, Ana and Mia; his brothers, Roland Batien (Dee) of Gold Canyon, AZ and Lloyd Batien (Sheryl) of Wolsey, SD; and his sister-in-law Cindy Warkenthien (Marlin) of Willow Lake, SD. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
