He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerrit L. DeVries and Dora DeVries (VanDenHoek); his wife Ruby Lou Ligtenberg; his granddaughter Janelle; his great grandchild Avalee; his son-in-law James P. Airheart; his siblings, Erwin DeVries (Pat) and Lorraine VanSchapen (Don); and his parents-in-law, John Tamminga, Alvin Isakson, Robert Ligtenberg (Cornelia), Jeri Ligtenberg, Eileen VanZee (Andy) and Phyllis DeHaai.
He is survived by: his children, Lewis DeVries (Pauline) of Plankinton, SD, Lowell DeVries (Elaine) of Corsica, SD, LeRon DeVries (ReVay) of Corsica, SD, Ruth Airheart of Custer, SD, Ronda Hollander (Tim) of Corsica, SD and Roxann Gerlach (LaRon) of Stickney, SD; his sisters, Anna Mae Tamminga of Hudson, MI and Emily Isakson of Puyallup, WA; and his fathers-in-law, Irvin Ligtenberg (Evalou), Jim Ligtenberg and Norman DeHaai. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild.
