He was predeceased by: his parents, William Buttke and Erna Buttke (Seehafer); and his siblings, Gilbert Buttke and Grace Bronson. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the SD Lions Foundation or Milbank Area Hospice.
