He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Effling and Ellen Effling (Healy); his wife Shirley Delores Grunewaldt; his granddaughter Chelsea Weber; his great grandchild Rae Ann Davis; his grandson-in-law Josh Fiedler; his siblings, Vince Effling, Mary Muller, Irene Casanova, Gertrese Steilen and Veronica; and his siblings-in-law, Esther Effling, Bernard Muller, Jack Casanova, Ed Steilen and Daryl Kurtenbach.
He is survived by: his children, James Effling (Nancy) of Clear Lake, SD, LuAnn Weber (JT) of Lake Benton, MN, Helen Geppert (Kevin) of Mitchell, SD, Joe Effling of Kadoka, SD, Ray Effling (Marci) of Britton, SD and Chris Effling (Kristi) of Highmore, SD; his grandchildren, Jenna Braun (Mark), Ross Effling and Ryan Effling (Sophia); his children, Jake Weber (Amanda), Elizabeth Fiedler (Brent Mergen), Garret Weber (Kailey), Maria Opheim (Cade), Sara, Matthew Weber, Sydney Davis (Garrett), Weston Geppert (Britney), Kylee Dolieslager (Tyler), Dylan Effling, Austin Effling, Lyndsey Effling (Austin Etrheim), Carter, Emily, Olivia Effling, Cagney Schotte (Hadley), Chesney and Kenidey Effling; his great grandchildren, Ellie, Kollyns, Gage and Landon Braun; his grandchildren, Tate Effling, Abilene, Chisum, Talon Weber, Vidalia, Davie Fiedler, Adam, Levi Weber, Tawnee Opheim, Bo, Pepper Davis, Lawton and Conley Geppert; and his siblings, Francis Effling (Cleo), Greg Effling (Sharon) and Betty Kurtenbach.
