She was predeceased by: her parents, John William and Ida Klemm (Zoellner); her niece Nancy; her husband Albert Schmahl; and her siblings, Harry, Robert, Curtis, Verna Kanz and Bernice Seward.

She is survived by: her sister Phyllis Thompson.
