He was predeceased by: his parents, Avelino Sr. Ortega and Carmelita Ortega; and his siblings, Lina Ortega, Avelino Ortega Jr., Aurora Candelario and Edgardo Ortega.
He is survived by: his wife Luzviminda Ortega of Chamberlain; his children, Jasper John Ortega of Angeles City, Christoper John Ortega (Angeline) of Angeles City, Camille Jane Ortega of Brookings and Louize John Ortega of Sioux Falls; his grandson Elijah Zane Ortega of Angeles City; and his siblings, Flordeliza Ortega Delfino of Angeles City, Elizabeth Ortega Ocampo of Angeles City and Orlando Ortega of Angeles City.
John began as an engineering student, but later changed and took air conditioning and refrigeration courses for two years at Angeles University Foundation.
