He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gillies and Lucy Gillis Union (Davis); his son Dave Donavan Gillis; and his siblings, Frank, Raymond, David, Clifford, Fred, Joseph, Peter, Viola Grinnell, Millie Crasco, Mary Ann Hamley, Margaret Belgarde (Peggy), Geraldine Luhr, Phyllis Schock and Angelique Olmscheid.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Gillis (Starr-Perkins); his children, Dean Craig of Lawrence, KS, Shannon of Chamberlain, SD, Angelique of Bismarck, ND and Johnette of Bismarck, ND; his grandchildren, Savanna (Josh), Nathaniel (Anne), Justine, Craig, Victoria, Hunter, Stacia, Jonathan and Connor; his great grandchildren, Sage, Scout, Saylor, Grant, Avory and Lakyn; and his godchildren, Floyd Lavendure (Frenchy), Cindy Lafloe (Gillis), Cheryl Poitra, Brandi Gillis-DuBois, Cindy Quam and Megahn Gillis.
A wake was held on Monday, January 6th 2025 at 5:00 PM.
