“Dear Family, Our condolences at the passing of Alvern. I know he is at peace now and I hope that gives you some peace also. He was a wonderful uncle. I know everyone called him Johnny, but we grew up calling him Alvern because that's what mom called him. I've enjoyed seeing the love that he showed to Ellen through so many years that they were together. I remember things like his great potato growing in the stacked up tires experiment - to see how many he could grow. Or remembering looking way up to him when I was a little kid and seeing him duck all the time because he was so tall. He always had that wonderful smile to give to us kids. Our love to you all, Julie Newland and Sam Dutton Desjardins”
