She was predeceased by: her parents, Pauline Johnson (LeRoy) and Donald Jurgensen (Carol); her husband Ronald Powell; and her brother Doug Jurgensen. She is survived by: her daughter Shawna Knutson (Gregg); her grandchildren, Cole Comp (Amber), Stephan Comp Hinrich (Nikki), Lindsay Stroman (Jade Edman) and Shelby Stroman; her stepson Jimmy Powell (Tracey); and her stepgrandchildren, Harmony Diaz, Emily Powell, Hannah Johnson (David), Sydney Knutson (Jacob Gray) and Whitney Knutson (Nate Childers). She is also survived by five step-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Sioux Falls or Yankton Humane Society, two causes Sandy held dear.
