He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Boetel and Amanda Boetel; his siblings, Norma Boetel and Robert; his sister-in-law Gloria Boetel; his sister Lila; and his brother-in-law Richard Stamp.
He is survived by: his former spouse Jerrilyn Schade; his wife Delores Polzin (Dee) of Cavour, SD; his children, Dawn Birkeland (Marc) of Huron, SD and Jack Boetel of Sioux Falls, SD; his grandchildren, Alec Birkeland (Becca) of Thornton, CO, Aric Birkeland (Desiree) of Arlington, VA, Cody Boetel (Angie) and Jake Boetel (Mikayla) of Sioux Falls, SD; and his great grandchildren, Bentley, Weston, Lakon and Lorraine of Sioux Falls, SD.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Mt Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron, SD.
