He was predeceased by: his birth father David Gries; and his friend Red. He is survived by: his son Alexander Gries; his sisters, Pamela McDonnell, Pennie Espeland, Sara Ekeren (Brian) and Trish Stansbury; and his parents, Steve Espeland and Charlotte Espeland.
