It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Phyllis Hammond (Canton, South Dakota), who passed away on April 4, 2025, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
As we bid Phyllis farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Phyllis is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Earl Boyum and Esther Boyum (Johnson); her husband Russell Hammond; her son Terry; and her siblings, John Boyum, Earl Boyum (Evelyn) and Joan Johnson (Ron).
She is survived by: her son Steve; her sister Judy Groeneweg (Wayne); and her friend Mike Hansen. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home (403 N Main St, Canton, SD 57013). A memorial service was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Redeemer Free Lutheran Church (47992 W 5th St, Canton, SD 57013).
